College of Staten Island
The College of
Staten Island’s
main gymnasium
floor suffered mold damage from leaks and problems with exterior drainage.
Klepp was asked to repair over 18,000 ft2 of maple athletic
flooring. Klepp’s experience was critical to the repair plans, the
installation and the project schedule. Prior to starting the project, Klepp
researched the problems with a general contractor. Recommendations ranged
from improved door seals to re-grading the building exterior to prevent
recurrence of problems. Once the water problems were corrected and the mold
remediated, Klepp Wood Flooring repaired the floor. Klepp managed to
preserve over one-third of the existing surface to minimize the cost of the
repair. The project was completed according to the most stringent of
schedules that allowed the school to complete a sports season in the winter
on the old floor and graduate a class in May on the new surface.
